It takes around 4 days. Simple wall and ceiling repainting that measures around 1,900 sq-ft in a 3-bedroom house with little prep work might not exceed 4 days for completion by a team of three painters. Two days will be spent on painting doors, windows, and molding.

Another potential issue with older textured ceilings is asbestos – in the UK at least, asbestos was sometimes used in whatever it is they put up there. Fortunately it wasn’t present in my house, but if it is it obviously makes it more difficult to safely remove and replaster. Kasey February 26, 2015
In total, you can expect to spend about $1,296 on the equipment and materials needed to paint the exterior of a home with 2,000 square feet of paintable area. If you use a more expensive paint, like one with a semi-gloss or high-gloss finish, your overall DIY cost will rise significantly. The cost will also increase if you have a larger home.
Painting the exterior of your home gives its curb appeal a huge boost. Painting the interior helps you modernize and beautify your home by completing projects like bathroom renewals, kitchen redos, new floors, and upgraded hardware.

Primer is required on most bare surfaces and recommended on all surfaces for the best results. Two coats do not always require double the paint because the second coat often uses less paint. Porous and textured surfaces like brick, stucco, and concrete require more paint. Estimate one gallon of trim paint for every 6 to 8 gallons of exterior paint.

Josh, some great work on the renovation, it’s come up really nicely! It’s good to see you stressing the importance of not taking short cuts when it comes to prepping and removing wallpaper. It definitely does lead to more problems down the road when done incorrectly. However there is a caveat on that. If the wallpaper is in good condition and you have primed it properly, you can get away with painting over wallpaper. On a few jobs where the client has been on a tight budget, we have used an oil based primer to really seal the adhesive and keep then moisture from the paint away. Has worked well and we haven’t got any call backs. But I’d still agree with you and always push for stripping back wallpaper where possible. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure as the saying goes. Also, would love to see how your painted popcorn ceilings came up. We call it ‘vermiculite’. Its quite old school and we come across it in school jobs and old buildings occasionally. Jake Beals May 09, 2020
Paint and primer will likely cost the same no matter where you live, but labor is another story. For one, hourly labor rates will be higher in big cities than small towns. Higher rates obviously make a higher overall cost of professional painting.
